Pike Place Market and the Seattle waterfront make for an amazing location combination for a senior guy photoshoot. For my session with Xander, we started in Pike Place Market to get a great urban feel. He wanted some murals and city architecture to kick things off. I love the color and diversity of backgrounds that the city of Seattle has to offer. And Pike Place packs it all into a space that we can walk around easily. You can get painted walls, stairs, vendor stalls, unique lighting, indoor and outdoor spaces, and an overall edgy feel.

From the market, we made our way toward the waterfront. We started with a fantastic view of the city skyline and ferris wheel. Then we walked down toward the piers and aquarium area. Xander wanted to get some waterfront beach scenery in his gallery. Most of the waterfront is viewed from higher up on the piers and walkways. But there is one small beach that we could get our toes in the sand. It had a great view of the ferries and bright afternoon sun.

I had a fantastic time with Xander and his parents during his senior session in Seattle. It amazes me how much diversity we can add to a gallery in just an hour or two of walking the market and waterfront areas. Summer in this area of Seattle has a fun, social, and busy urban vibe. We didn’t have to drive to any second locations to get some amazing variety. I hope Xander and his family love his gallery as much as I do!
