This was such a great summertime photo shoot in North Bend with an amazing senior. We had beautiful weather, golden light, two perfect locations, and got to see some elk. I love this kind of photo shoot for a guy. A bit more like a fun adventure photo shoot than a formal portrait session.
Riverfront and park photos
We started our shoot at the river park. It’s always nice to get going with a location that has some easy posing options. In this case, the rocks by the river and fence in the park worked nicely. Beginning at this location also gave the sun a little time to drop lower in the sky. It was just starting to dip into the line of trees and soften for a nice glow.
Open fields and mountain views
Our second location was so much fun! As we were walking to my favorite area, we spotted a large herd of elk. During the summer months in the evenings, elk sightings are common but always a surprise anyway. It was a great addition to the session. I like to save this area for our second stop to give the sun even more time to drop in the sky. The meadow is wide open and to get the mountain in the background, you need to face the direction of the sun. Harsh light in your face and squinty eyes are never what we are hoping for. When we got to the park, the mountain was catching the sun and the meadow . Perfect timing!
