Mila chose the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle for her stunning fall photo shoot. And her timing couldn’t have been more perfect for gorgeous, vibrant fall color! This urban oasis is one of the most enchanting locations for capturing the essence of the season. Fall at Washington Park Arboretum provides a unique blend of plants of all kinds and colors from warm and earthy to bright and bold. And with 230 acres of winding trails, tranquil water, and vibrant gardens, it’s a versatile and diverse location for a senior session.
It’s all in the timing
Mila timed her session perfectly to take advantage of the most colorful fall colors and golden hour light. Some of the brightest leaves are in season anytime from mid October to early November. This can vary by a week or two, but you can be sure to catch at least some of it if you plan your photo shoot in this range of dates. The other timing element to get just right is your session start time. Most seniors want beautiful golden hour lighting. This means that a two hour senior session is best started 2-3 hours before the sun sets. Your photographer can help choose the best time based on location, time of year, and length of session.
Complementary colors
I love that Mila chose two very different outfits. Her first was a stunning dress in a bold red color. We immediately thought that a visit to the gardens with Japanese maples would be a beautiful choice. Mila’s second outfit was a more muted black top and brown skirt. The neutral colors went so nicely with the yellow, orange, brown, and green shades of the gardens we toured during the second half of her session. Although each wardrobe choice was very different, both served to enhance the colors and textures of the gardens we visited.
