Elise | Bothell High School

Topping the list of what this Bothell senior wanted in her pictures were colorful fall leaves. Her early October session was the perfect timing to get beautiful autumn foliage. I love this time of year for the warm colors and surprisingly beautiful weather. September and October are actually my favorite time of year for senior sessions! If you build in a little flexibility to work around a few rainy day, October is a fantastic senior portrait month.

Finding fall leaves

There are some really gorgeous parks and botanical gardens in the PNW that offer beautiful fall color. For several great suggestions, check out this blog post! To get some extra variety, we chose Discovery Park in Seattle. The giant park has a little bit of everything, from the autumn colors we were looking for to water views on the bluff.

October sunshine

We really lucked out with weather for Elise’s session. The sun was out and shining through the fall leaves and sparkling on the water. We started at the upper area of the park to take advantage of where the sun was in the sky. There were some beautiful trees with the orange and yellow leaves that Elise had been hoping for and some evergreen trees that added a different look as well. We then walked to the open meadows and then to the bluff for water views. I’m glad Elise packed a sweater because as the sun dropped there was definitely a chill in the air! Definitely bring something to bundle up in for fall sessions!
