West Seattle High School Senior Session in North Bend

This West Seattle High School senior had one of my favorite sessions in North Bend. We ended up with a gorgeous August evening, with the most amazing lighting. And the scattered clouds gave us the best cotton candy skies at sunset!

We started Mathilde’s session at a river park in North Bend. I love the variety of backgrounds at this location. Things I always look for when deciding if a location will be amazing for senior sessions:

• Variety of backgrounds
• Beautiful light
• Open shade (this helps us at the beginning of sessions when sun can be a bit harsh)
• Easy posing (places to sit, stand, and lean)
• Access to parking
• Fewer crowds, or areas that we can go to get away from too many people

This park has it all. The rustic vibe, open spaces, and gorgeous river rock are always popular with both guys and girls.

After the river park, we added in a stop at my favorite mountain view spot. Because of the location of the sun, I try to make sure we end at this location just before sunset. If we are too early, the light can get too bright and harsh. But if we end up with some cloud cover, it’s even better! The light will be naturally soft and flattering in the hours leading up to sunset. For Mathilde, we had just a few clouds that gave the sky extra beautiful color. Some of my favorite images in her gallery all happened in the last few minute of our session. It was gorgeous!… And she brought her beautiful mom along for a few photos together. Senior photoshoots are an amazing, fun memory. It’s even more special when you have people you love experiencing it with you.
